Alaskan anniversary

Tomorrow marks the 15th anniversary of a cruise my mother insisted that we all take. We had a luxurious suite with a wide balcony. Majestic mountains and untouched land seemed to move past slowly, rather than feeling the cruise ship. I would look out the sliding glass doors at 3 a.m. in awe at the light and scene.

I fell in love with Alaska immediately.* So did my spouse. (My sib and bro-in-law did not.) The next year a headhunter called my husband about a job here. Remarkable. And here we are, still. Bliss.

*Except for the political scene

What a beautiful shot of Alaska wildflowers in full bloom. And 15 years for you? It’s nearly 29 for me since making that first road trip in an old VW bus to Prince Rupert followed by a ferry ride to Ketchikan. The rest is history and not all bliss but it’s not over yet.
    Happy anniversary!
