Holding on to chlorophyll

Chokecherry tree branch holds onto its color, while other leaves turn shades of yellow.

I decided to take a course in photography. Why now? I have no idea. Why this interest in photography rather late in my life? Cameras and photographers have surrounded me for decades. Photography magazines litter our house. Perhaps a new sense of possibility? Perhaps something happens as one ages? Perhaps freedom lies in becoming the end of the line in terms of posterity and family of origin — the “why not?” theory in trying new paths. I haven’t a clue.

I just know that I need to learn.
